The catch is that occasional ads interrupt the music. The ads are infrequent enough to be tolerable, but if you’re really fussy you can pay a monthly fee to have ad-free music.

Lately, I’ve been listening to (as well as lots of embarrassing pop music that I won’t admit to):

An old friend of mine is in this band. If you like music that’s out of control, with shivering saxophones and wailing guitars, I politely suggest that you listen to them.

Some of my good friends from school are in a band called Peanut Albinos. I went to see their EP release last week and was very impressed by the band that they have grown into.

I have seen these friends in many guises, playing in many questionable pubs and venues since we were teens. Over a decade these friends have mellowed and learnt and grown and fucked up and gone different directions – but here they are now as the Peanut Albinos.

Peanut Albinos sound like whisky, jubilation, hobos, successful failure, hallelujah, and a pub full of shouting drunks. It’s like pirates battling punks for control of the asylum. It’s a raucous, poetic, beautifully orchestrated shambles. The band play banjos and saws and they bang on boxes and scream at the audience.
